Advocacy for People with Dementia in Derry - 11th Feb

1 Feb 2010

Following a very successful session with the Alzheimers Society, we are repeating the workshop in the North West on Thursday 11th February.

The purpose of dementia advocacy is to assist and support older people with dementia and memory impairments to articulate, exercise and defend their rights and to fully participate in both the minor and major decisions affecting their lives. The sessions will be participatory and interactive and will provide the opportunity for practitioners to reflect on advocacy in the context of their own work

Participants will get a chance to explore issues such as • What dementia advocacy is and isn’t • How independent advocacy can support their work • Incorporating the principals of advocacy into their own role

Tutor: Dervilia Kernaghan and Danielle Given, Alzheimers Society
