This will continue our guest lecture series which aims to expose members to best practice, current and new thinking on a range of topics. The Baby Peter case has raised a myriad of issues with regard to the role of social workers and multi disciplinary teams in child protection.
It has also resulted in negative public perceptions of the profession. This workshop will offer participants a chance to consider what can be learned from the tragedy. It may be of particular interest for social work/care managers, social workers, AHPs, nursing members.
The lecture will explore • What do social care workers need to ‘unlearn’ in order to become more effective practitioners in child protection work? • How can managers facilitate this ‘unlearning’?
It will be delivered by Noreen Ritchie, Social Work and Social Care Practice lecturer with QUB and OU. It takes place from 6.30 - 7.30pm on Thursday October 29th 2009 in UNISON Belfast. This event is free and open to the public. Please book a place online or contact Anne Campbell a.campbell2@unison.co.uk or 028 90270190
