‘Alcohol health work in hospitals – opportunistic interventions for drinkers’

This is the title of our first guest lecture which takes place from 6.30 - 7.30pm on Wed 20th August. Adrian Brown is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in St Mary’s Hospital, London. This will be of particular interest to A&E staff, social workers and other health professionals working with addictions.

Adrian’s lecture will outline identification of alcohol problems in hospital and other primary care settings, give some ideas of the conditions that are associated with excessive drinking, and illustrate brief advice giving for non-specialists and brief interventions for substance misuse specialists.

Adrian is is a Registered Mental Nurse, working in Central London and specialising in substance misuse since 1990. He has been involved in the development of the Paddington Alcohol Test.
