This is a two day course which explores poverty under the headings of poverty and its causes; poverty and policy; poverty and gender; poverty and children. This is an excellent course for those working in community development, or as social workers, health care staff, residential care workers
These workshops will give participants an opportunity to discuss in an interactive way
• what poverty is
• breaking the cycle of poverty
• how policy impacts on poverty
• gender dimension to poverty
• the impact of income inequality in households
• myths about and causes of child poverty
• young people from particular groups who are at greater risk of experiencing poverty

Workshops will run on Tuesday 26th February 2008 (Part 1) & Tuesday 4th March 2008 (Part 2) from 10am - 4pm in our Belfast office and are free to UNISON members.
