Learning Opportunities in West Belfast & Greater Shankill

Members of the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust living and/or working in West Belfast & Greater Shankill can avail of a range of courses supported through the West Belfast & Greater Shankill Health Employment Partnership.

The West Belfast & Greater Shankill Employability Partnership is offering a range of learning opportunities for Belfast Trust staff working or living in West Belfast & Greater Shankill. This initiative is a partnership between UNISON, Belfast Trust and local community groups to support long term unemployed people to move into entry level jobs in the health service and support staff to progress within their own area of work or into a different area. The courses are open to any member of staff living or working in West Belfast & Greater Shankill and do not have to be job related.

Courses which are currently being recruited for

Level 2 Introduction to Team Leading
Essential Skills Maths and Literacy
Text processing
ECDL
Basic Keyboarding
Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Awareness
Level 2 Certificate in Provision of Activities in Care Setting
Level 3 Certificate in Management

Level 2 courses are Suitable for anyone working or wishing to work in a health and social care setting
Learner does not need formal qualification, just commitment to learn using distance learning materials
Learning is based on a combination of knowledge, skills and work based experience.
Each learner will have access to tutor support.
The underpinning knowledge for this course is generally delivered in 3 monthly 3 hour sessions with the candidates completing the assessment workbooks in their own time between sessions.
