Open University Mental Health & Adult Nursing Places

The OU has been awarded additional mental health nurse training places from the DHSSPS. Some adult places are still available. New places are available with Western Trust (T&F & Gransha), Southern HSC Trust (Craigavon/Banbridge) and South Eastern Trust (Down Lisburn), Belfast Trust (South & East).

This programme enables Nursing Auxiliary/Health Care Assistants to gain a registered nursing qualification without giving up your job. Your employer gives release to attend classes, take study leave and facilitates placements. The course runs over four years and starts with the K100 Understanding Health & Social Care module.

Entry Criteria:
Applicants must:
Be of Good Character and Health
Be a permanent employee, confirmed in post with your employers support.
Have experience of care delivery

And have one or more of the following:
• NVQ II Care Award Plus a Numeracy Qualification at Key Skills level 2 or Equivalent
• NVQ III Care Award Plus a Numeracy Qualification at Key Skills level 2 or Equivalent
• K100 Understanding Health and Social Care plus a numeracy qualification at Key Skills level II or equivalent.
• 5 GCSE’s (including literacy and numeracy component at key skills level II).

The Open University will accept a range of qualifications equivalent to GSCE/O’Level Maths. For a complete list click here
