A very successful graduation event took place of UNISON members who had completed the Open University K100 course. Members from Sperrin Lakeland Trust, Mater Hospital, Royal Hospitals, South & East Belfast Trust, Greenpark Trust, Newry & Mourn Trust, Ambulance Service, North & West Trust and Craigavon & Banbridge Community received certificates from Professor Shirley Reveley, Dean of the Open University. »more

Workers Memorial Day takes place around the world with the slogan “Remember the Dead, Fight for the Living.” The purpose of the Day is two-fold. Firstly, to not forget about those who have died, been injured, or been made ill by their work. Secondly, it is about ensuring that this loss and suffering is used to reinvigorate the campaign for healthier and safer work; for those still at work, their families, and the children who will become tomorrows’ workers. »more

UNISON is in partnership with the Royal, Mater and North & West Belfast Trust to support access to health service jobs for long term unemployed people through the local Job Assist Centres. A key element of the project is to also support job training and progression opportunities for those who already employed in the Trusts. Admin, essential skills, BICS and ILM courses are all available. »more

The Union Learning Rep training course is designed to give members the skills and confidence to support learning in the workplace. Two courses are taking place in April and June - a residential and a weekly one. »more

Elections take place on Wednesday March 7th for the Northern Ireland Assembly. UNISON invited all of the political parties in to talk about their policies and attititudes to privatisation, school meals, protecting worker's rights, water rates, enforcing human rights legislation effectively, tackling poverty and saving public sector jobs. UNISON wants an end to unaccountable direct rule ministers, UNISON wants the parties to take their place in Stormont and get on with running services for the people. »more

It is a chance to find out about what education and lifelong learning opportunities are available to you to support you in your career and personal development. The event will also look at health and safety and your rights in the workplace. »more
