6 Oct 2006

Getting the negotiating edge for members is closely linked to understanding how the legislation works. This day is for activists to gain a better understanding of how to utilise legislation to get the best for members

This workshop will focus on Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act (1998). This piece of legislation is one of the most progressive equality laws across the European Union and only applies to Northern Ireland. It conveys a statutory duty on public sector organisations from government departments to Education & Library Boards to promote equality of opportunity on the grounds of

  • age
  • disability
  • political opinion
  • religion
  • gender
  • ethnicity
  • sexual orientation
  • marital status
