Understanding Change in Health & Education sectors - 21st & 22nd Nov

22 Oct 2006

Over the next twelve months, the Review of Public Administration will result in the merger of Health Trusts, Education & Library Boards and Councils. This will mean that UNISON members will transfer to new employers, involving possible relocation of staff and there are concerns around attempts to centralise and privatise services, particular administration.

It is important that UNISON activists understand these changes so they can keep members on the ground informed. At local level, there will be an opportunity to ensure that where mergers occur that best practice is adopted within the new structures and existing policies do not get diluted.

While mergers certainly threaten jobs and current roles there may also be opportunities. These workshops will give partipants an understanding of how mergers will occur, where UNISON activists can intervene and help ensure that members are supported through the process.

Workshops will take place on
Tuesday 21st November in Belfast Office
Wednesday 22nd November in Derry Office
