Open University lunchtime taster sessions take place in Tyrone County on June 28th on mental health and in the Erne hospital on June 30th on health promotion. The events are targeted at nurses, allied health staff, nursing auxiliaries/assistants, health care assistants, student nurses, home care staff, but may be of interest to other staff working in Trusts or private nursing homes.
Challenging Ideas in Mental Health: Everyday issues for Health Care Workers - 1-2pm, June 28th in the Doctors Library, Tyrone County. The workshop is a taster based on the Open University module Challenging Ideas in Mental Health K272 which includes looks at mental health from a holistic perspective which covers five dimensions of the person – social, emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual The session will be delivered by Mary Jo McAteer, OU tutor.
Promoting Health: developing effective communication in Health care settings - 1-2pm, June 30th in the Health Education Room, Erne Hospital. It is a taster based on the Open University module Promoting Health: Skills, Perspectives and Practice which includes an opportunity to explore issues, innovations and dilemmas in health promotion, preventive measures, health education and the ‘new public health’. The session will be delivered by Sharon Henry, OU tutor
