Free Internet Made Easy CD and Taster Sessions

21 May 2006

By the end of Adult Learners’ Week (22nd – 26th May 2006), every household in N Ireland will have received a copy of the Internet Made Easy CD – a resource aimed at helping people to find out more about the internet and discover the benefits of the World Wide Web. To accompany the CD a range of taster events have been organised across Northern Ireland to introduce people to the internet, so drop in with your Internet Made Easy CD.

The initiative is supported by the Educational Service for Adults, government and the business community and aims to help people become more media literate. This CD is fun to use and focuses on the many practical benefits of using the internet. People are invited to work through online “journeys” – such as booking flights, shopping, sending e-mails, searching for a job or a finding a course in a local learning centre.

A week of events are being held in local libraries, community centres and colleges of further education. These events include internet taster sessions and a dedicated Silver Surfers Day on May 26th where over 50s can go along to learn more about the web. You can just drop into to most of the sessions, but where indicated you are asked to book in advance.
