Knowledge and Skills Framework

Targeted at: Branch education Officers and UNISON reps in the Health Service
Duration: 1 or 2 days

The Knowledge & Skills Framework plans to describe the knowledge and skills which Health Service staff need to apply in their work in order to deliver quality services. It will provide a consistent, comprehensive and explicit framework on which to base review and development for all staff. It has the potential to enable members to access additional training and progression courses.

This course aims to:

  • To introduce participants to the main principles of the KSF and the spirit of the agreement
  • To explore the main stages of the KSF
  • To discuss the main challenges and opportunities that the KSF presents
  • To practice developing a post outline and ways of ensuring the process involves members
  • To develop a clear understanding of roles in the local KSK working group
  • To explore the challenging issues in the KSF and how to resolve them
  • To understand the development review process and explore any issues that members might raise
  • To develop some ideas around organising and recruiting around the KSF
  • To consider what the branch needs to do to engage fully in the KSF process and to develop a branch plan, which involves learning reps and stewards
