What you and your Union can gain from the course:
The October 2010 amendment to the NHS handbook gives all NHS employees protection on speaking out, in addition to the duties already placed on those under professional regulation. The amendment also gives an option to report matters to a trade union, and therefore puts UNISON under obligation.
As the cuts bite, we need a strategic approach to supporting members concerned over falling standards and compromised service delivery.
Key Areas for you as a Learner:
• Understand the support given by the general law
• Learn from experience and best practice from members subject to regulation.
• Ensure that the AFC amendment is clearly embedded in your workplace
• Build confidence to support members seeking to take issues forward
• Help our union develop clear
internal procedures and protocols
Tutors: Thompsons Solicitors, HQ specialist, professional regulator, Jonathan Swallow
