Section 75 Statutory Duty - Promoting Equality of Opportunity

Targeted at: Branch Secretaries, members of local JNC's, Equality Officers, Branch Education Officers and representatives of Self Organised Groups. Members with an interest in this topic are also welcome.
Duration: 1 day

As a union we have long campaigned for this law. It places a statutory duty of all public bodies to promote equality of opportunity and has the potential to make a real impact on inequality facing our members. One of these areas in which duty can make a real difference is the bargaining agenda. It can be used to ensure that our members do not face discrimination in terms and conditions or are unreasonably transferred into the private sector - especially given the current policy on promoting a wide range of PFI contracts and/or equality impact assessments(EQIA's). This training is particularly useful for those who are involved with negotiations and discussions on PFI contracts and equality impact assessments.
