The Bill of Rights is once again out for consultation and it is important that the voices of our members are heard. A Bill of Rights is a statement of the rights that you have which the government promises to protect. In addition to the protections we enjoy under the law, there is a debate about whether a Bill of Rights could or should include issues such as a right to housing, a right to adequate income, a right to protest, a right to a safe working environment, a right to public transport, a right to education for children regardless of disability. This is your chance to be part of the debate.
What you and your Union can gain from the course:
• Knowledge on why we should have a Bill of Rights
• What should be in the Bill of Rights
• How can we influence the debate
• How can we ensure our members take part in the consultation process
• How can we use this legislation to ensure a fairer society for all our members
• Making sure UNISON’S agenda on this issue is at the forefront of any debate
Key areas for you as a Member:
• Empower our activists to take part in the debate
• Ensure the matter is discuss in branches and workplaces
This course will be delivered by Fiona Murphy from the CAJ
