This course is part of UNISON’s Continuing Professional Development programme.
Pressure ulcers are a widespread and often underestimated health problem. They affect people who are immobile due to illness or infirmity and result in tremendous pain and at the extreme end amputation. This workshop will introduce participants to the various stages of pressure ulceration and how as a health and social care worker you can be instrumental in preventing it. It will introduce participants to the various stages of pressure ulceration as well as prevention and treatment.
Participants will get the chance to explore issues such as
• Causes of pressure ulceration
• Stages of pressure ulceration
• Prevention and treatment of pressure ulceration
• Leg ulcer prevention and treatment
