This full day seminar will help members understand what is meant by abuse of older people in care environments and look at how they can contribute to protecting individuals from abuse.
What you can gain from the course?
You will be asked to ‘think the unthinkable’ and have a chance to discuss the following issues:
What is meant by abuse?
How the law affects what you do
How you can contribute to the minimising of abuse
How to report and record information
What to do if you suspect abuse in your own workplace
A workshop using work based scenarios will be used to explore strategies and identify good practice. Situations where elders may be abused in their own home will be discussed also the importance of sharing information with relevant professionals.
