As part of UNISON’s commitment to continuing professional development we are offering Palliative Care targeted at nurses, social workers and ambulance staff. However, it may be of interest to members working in other areas.
This day long session will be delivered by the Northern Ireland Hospice Care which provides specialist palliative care for adults and children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses. The topics covered will include
Principles of Palliative Care
Breaking Bad News
Care of the Dying Patient
Pain Assessment & Management
We are running two separate courses, the course for nurses/student nurses will have more of an emphasis on pain assessment and management, the course for those with a general interest will focus on care of the dying patient and the principles of palliative care.
Date: Tues 18th September (for nurses and student nurses)
