Targeted at: Nurses, Social Care staff, Receptionists, Community & Voluntary Members
Duration: 1 day
As part of UNISON’s commitment to continuing professional development we are offering this workshop targeted at nurses, social workers and ambulance staff. However, it may be of interest to members working in other areas.
This is a full day seminar delivered by Rethink which aims to support members to engage appropriately with people who are affected by mental illness. In the morning the workshop will explore issues such as what is mental illness, what myths and stereotypes exist around mental health/mental illness and what are the support needs of those affected. The afternoon session will focus on a rights based perspective of the mental health legislation, such as the Mental Health Order. You will have a chance to examine your rights and responsibilities as an employee under the legislation as well as the rights of the person affected by mental illness.
