This one-day workshop will examine the predictions of the rise in aging population of those with a Learning Disability and prevalence of dementia in those with Down’s syndrome and in older people with a learning disability. It will explore issues such as what is dementia and what is not dementia; an understanding of the importance of baseline assessments, to assist with early diagnosis; managing challenging behaviours such as aggression and “wandering” as well as looking at understanding pain and “diagnostic overshadowing’ .
