Creative Problem Solving

Targeted at: Any member in a supervisory/management role
Duration: 1 day

In this workshop, you will learn a straightforward model for problem-solving for teams or one-on-one meetings with your staff. Participants will practice tools for surfacing conflicts and dealing with them in mutually acceptable ways before they get out of hand. The session will focus on expanding options for managing people in order to increase productivity and job satisfaction.

The workshop will consist of a brief presentation, discussion, and challenging (yet fun) exercises where you will practice new tools and techniques. You will learn:
 a 4-step model for joint problem-solving
 skills you’ll need to put the model to use: questioning, listening, and curiosity skills

After the workshop, you can expect to return to your workplace with fresh tools for working with staff and others to address problems that are sure to emerge in the workplace

Tutor:
Rebecca Subar, MPA, Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government

Other information
Before the date of the workshop, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire describing the specific types of people-problems or organizational problems you face at work. During the workshop, you will have an opportunity to apply the joint problem-solving model to your own situations.
