Behaviour Management with Children & Young People

Target: School based members and those working with children and young people
Duration: 1 day

AIMS: 1. To explore the range of factors which influence behaviour difficulties with children and young people
2. To consider a range of models of intervention, which promote positive behaviour with children and young people

OUTCOMES: on completion of the programme participants will have;
1. Considered a range of current approaches which seek to understand difficult behaviour, specifically in the context of the classroom
2. Discussed the importance of a strong value base to guide intervention with children and young people – reflecting upon language and communication skills
3. Reviewed strategies for developing positive behaviour with the children and young people

CONTENT:
Defining difficult behaviour; Understanding the needs of children and young people; Exploring the power of language when interacting with children and young people who are presenting difficult behaviour patterns; How can positive change be achieved? Promoting positive self esteem with children and young people; Reviewing interactions and Opportunity Planning
