Debt advice
Listening and support
Financial assistance
Breaks and holidays
Personal advice
Branch Welfare Officers are responsible for advising and supporting members to access the welfare service.
What you and your Union can gain from the course:
• Understand their role and the confidentiality it involves
• Understand the UNISON welfare charity and the application process
• Understand the importance of promoting and publicising UNISON
• Identify difference communication styles and practice active listening
• Help a member feel at ease and gather sensitive information
• Handle problems in an assertive manner
Key issues for you as a participant:
• Understanding and promoting UNISON Welfare to members and their families
