Targeted at: Stewards, Health & Safety Reps and branch activists. All members welcome.

Violent attacks and harassment of our members in hospitals, homes, schools etc. is on the increase. This course looks at how our members are affected, and how branches can use health & safety laws, local bargaining and campaigns to tackle this serious problem.
What you and your Union can gain from the course:
• To define Violence at Work
• Understand the causes of violence at work and its effects on members
• Be familiar with the law concerning violence at work
• Understand how risk assessments can be used as part of a workplace strategy to prevent violence at work
• Prepare and implement a policy on violence at work
• Identify measures to include in a workplace violence reduction programme
Key Areas for you as a Participant:
• Ensuring that violent incidents at work are taken seriously and reported
• Supporting members who have been a victim of violence at work
• Ensuring critical incident de-briefing takes place
• Ensuring risk assessments are undertaken
• Assisting members to complete the paperwork required to raise a legal claim against the employer
