Belfast Institute Enrolment Open Now

A wide range of part time courses are now available at Belfast Institute's campuses and outreach centre. Whether you want to improve your career prospectives, learn a new skill or take on a hobby there's something for you. Some courses such as Essential Skills are free, short courses can start at as little as £4 per class, with concession rates available if you are on benefits including working tax credit or over 60. »more

K100 Information Sessions - June 7th

Information sessions on the Open University K100 course take place in the Personnel Training Room, 3rd Floor, Bostock at 12pm and 2pm on Wednesday 7th of June. UNISON will access funding for 15 members from lower income households to to do this course free of charge. The course will be open for any UNISON member to apply, but candidates must meet set criteria and get approval from their line manager. »more

UNISON calls for extension to nurse and social work training

UNISON challenged the DHSSPS to make nurse and social work training more accessible to staff such as home care workers, care assistants, nursing auxiliaries and social work assistants. Pamela Dooley from UNISON highlighted the inequality of access to provision, “We have many experienced members in the health service who would love to progress into the professions, but the opportunities aren’t there” »more
