A Rural Celebration of International Women’s Day - March 8th in Portrush

13 Feb 2007

The Northern Ireland Rural Women’s Network and the Rural Community Network are organising an International Women’s Day event on 8 March in the Royal Court Hotel, Portrush. The overall theme is on ‘giving value, being valued’ as women living and working in rural areas. It’s about all women having the confidence, opportunities and resources to actively participate in all areas of rural life [giving value] and the wider rural community recognizing and giving equal value the work of women in rural areas [being valued].

There will be four morning workshops on faith; community/health; work and sustainable childcare; and decision-making. The afternoon will be spent exploring the agenda for change in these areas within a changing rural context.
