Mental Health - Open University Taster Postponed

As part of UNISON's commitment to continuing development opportunites, we are running a series of lunchtime taster sessions based on Open University modules. One session entitled "Mental Health: Care and Support issues for Mental health workers" will be hosted in the Craigavon area. A revised date has still to be confirmed The events are targeted at nurses, allied health staff, nursing auxiliaries/assistants, health care assistants and student nurses. »more

UNISON calls for extension to nurse and social work training

UNISON challenged the DHSSPS to make nurse and social work training more accessible to staff such as home care workers, care assistants, nursing auxiliaries and social work assistants. Pamela Dooley from UNISON highlighted the inequality of access to provision, “We have many experienced members in the health service who would love to progress into the professions, but the opportunities aren’t there” »more

UBI ‘Pre-Access Taster Programme’

Upper Bann Institute (UBI) have just announced the release of their ‘Pre-Access Taster Programme’. Designed as a stepping stone to their ‘Access Programme’, this course will run for a total of 18 weeks – 3 hours per week and will provide instruction in a diverse range of skills. »more
