Spirtuality & End of Life Care Workshop and Lecture

1 Feb 2010

Wilf McSherry, Professor in Dignity of Care for Older People, Staffordshire University, and Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust will facilitate a half day morning workshop with an evening lecture on Monday 22nd February. Wilf who still works as a nurse will explore the role of spirituality in end of life care.

Preventing Pressure Ulceration & Wound Care Courses in Derry

As part of UNISON's CPD programme, we are hosting a half day wound care course for nurses and a preventing pressure ulceration for other health care professionals in Derry. These courses will now run on Tues 2nd and Fri 5th March 2010 and will finish with lunch. They will be delivered by Jennifer Mullan from the Tissue Viability Nurse's Network

Professional Writing for AHPs - January 18th 2010 - event cancelled

This event has been cancelled due to low numbers applying, however UNISON hopes to run further events with COT/BAOT and UU. This workshop is being organised as part of UNISON’s Continuing Professional Development programme in partnership with University of Ulster and BAOT/COT and aims to support members to write for publication and also to meet the requirement for HPC audits.

K101 Recruiting in Belfast & South Eastern Trusts

Recruitment for a February intake of the Open University K101 Health & Social care course starts in the Belfast and the South Eastern Trusts. This level 4 course offers 60 credits towards a degree as well as a stand alone level 4 certificate. It offers participants an opportunity to explore a range of health and social care issues which aims to improve practice and give them a better overview of the service.

QUB Workbased Pre-Reg Nursing Places Available in Belfast & Southern Trusts

Queens University has been commissioned by the DHSPSS to provide both adult and learning disability nurse training places for February 2010. Some Trusts have already set in place a recruitment process.

Anatomy & Physiology Lectures in September

12 Sep 2009

Robert McMonagle, Open University, will deliver two lectures targeting student nurses one on the cardiovascular system and the second on nutrition. The lectures will take place in UNISON Belfast but we are going to attempt to video conference them to Altnagelvin and Tyrone County.
